Why is Hollywood so famous?
The first film industry was founded in California in 1887 by D.W. Griffith. It was named for its Los Angeles location, also known as Hollywood at that time.
The name stuck because it was such an exciting place for people to visit. People would travel all the way from other countries to see what was happening.
Today, Hollywood is still very much part of our culture. Movies, television shows and music videos are all part of our culture. These are all known as Hollywood.
Is Hollywood more important than Bollywood?
The biggest challenge for any film producer is how to make sure his movie gets noticed by audiences.
Problem is that many movies are competing for people's money and time. If you don't stand out, your chances of being seen are slim.
But what makes a movie great? What makes an actor famous? Or a director? Talent is not enough. It also requires luck. Even if you have the most talented actors in the world they won't be able to make it work if they write bad scripts.
Films can be divided into two categories: blockbuster films with large budgets or independent productions. Production and distribution of blockbuster movies costs hundreds of millions. These blockbuster movies are usually produced by big studios who want their movies to reach as broad an audience as possible. But big-budget films appeal more to older audiences.
Independent films can be smaller productions funded by individuals or groups. These films focus on niche markets or cater to particular tastes. They are generally less costly to produce and market. However, this does not mean they are always less expensive to watch. It is actually very difficult to find most indie movies.
So, the question is, do we need both kinds of films? Do we need big blockbuster movies and small independent ones? Well, I think that Hollywood is actually bigger than Bollywood. Hollywood produces more movies than India every year.

It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. The HWOF currently has 1,922 listed living people.
