Influence

The African American community of agrarian South was the source of the origins of country gospel songs. The first half of 20th century saw African Americans migrate to northern cities. They brought their worship culture along with them. Although the traditional South's single-room churches were still echoed, northern cities' storefront churches became a key venue for the Gospel. Country gospel music evolved from the music they brought to cities.

Early recordings of this period demonstrate the popularity and appeal of African-American gospel. These recordings often highlight the struggles of the African-American community and the struggle for freedom. Although many African-Americans were eventually able to recover their culture from the Civil War, their willpower was not enough. Despite this, the country gospel song was heavily influenced by African American spirituals from the Deep South. Its powerful message resonates with the racial history of the United States.

FAQ

How many movies makes Hollywood each year?

The number of films produced by Hollywood studios each year is approximately 3,000. It's true, there are three thousand!

Hollywood spends billions on advertising for these films. They spend millions producing them. They also spend millions promoting them. But how many do you think actually end up getting released into theaters?

It's probably between 200-300. What happens then to the 2,700+ remaining films? They are either distributed as direct-to–video releases or simply left in storage.

But not all of them are destined to go unseen. Some of them have been selected for distribution via Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, iTunes, Google Play, etc.

We should see more of them. Why aren’t they being shown in theaters instead? Because they are too expensive to make.

They'd also be cheaper to produce and released in theaters.

Let's face facts...

It can be challenging to get your film into theaters. This process can be complicated, lengthy, and filled with legalities.

It might also cost you a lot before you start.

The time frame in which your film can be distributed is also very limited.

How to get an honor star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in 1960 established the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The HWOF is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who contributed to motion pictures, television, radio, theater, music, or some aspect of popular culture. There are 1,922 individuals currently listed on HWOF.

To become a HWOF member, you need to submit a name to Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They then submit your details to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, a certificate will be sent to you stating that you are eligible. This includes your name as well as date of birth and the city where you live. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque is attached directly to the concrete base, in front of designated stars.

A current HWOF member can nominate you for a star or if you have made significant contributions in movies, television or radio. A committee reviews all the nominations before deciding whether or not they are approved. If they decide to approve, they write a letter to the address of the applicant explaining their decision. If the person accepts, they will be sent a second letter to confirm their acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce then sends $25 to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.

The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays artists or organizations whose applications were accepted. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce receives half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs gets the rest.

Once the artist receives his/her star he/she will be eligible to be inducted into the HWOF. To be eligible to list on the HWOF you will need to pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce all outstanding balance. The amount due will depend on when you were first nominated. If you were first honoured in 1990, then you would owe $15,000. If you were nominated for the first time in 1990, you would owe $15,000.

Contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to get your name removed from the HWOF and to repay any outstanding debts. They will remove your name permanently from the HWOF list.

How old is one to be eligible for a HWOF Star?

You must be at the least 18 year old to be nominated. A person must be present at the time of receiving a star. After receiving a Star, one can still be Nominated for another star after ten Years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

You can be nominated by your family members to receive a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce can place a memorial marker next to the star, if there aren't any living relatives.

Why don't people just use a different street instead of having stars all over the place?

The HWOF isn't meant to be an historical monument. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.

What happened with the stars that were stolen? The thieves took approximately 1,200 stars. Each star is between 250-300 lbs. If you add all of the weight together, it comes to approximately 4 tons of stars!
