Louis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong was a legend in the 20thcentury and a talented soloist who had an enormous influence on popular music over the years. He began his career as a cornetist with Joe "King", and he became equally skilled on both of the instruments. Armstrong's trumpet playing helped to create two important series of recordings that were made in the middle of the 20th century. He also appeared in films. Huddie Ledbetter

Huddie Lee Ledbetter was a Louisiana boy who was born in Lafayette on August 18, 1888. He was an unmarried child. However, Terrell, his uncle, gave him an accordion. He was a guitarist at the local party and began singing in brothels. In 1935, his uncle pardoned. When he was released from prison, he joined the band of politically-motivated folk musicians and made their way to New York. His song "Good Night, Irene" became a number one hit for The Weavers, and he recorded several other songs for other musicians, including The Weavers.

Pete Fountain

After having established a successful career in jazz piano, Pete Fountain began a long association with Coral Records Los Angeles. His music moved away from jazz and more toward instrumental pop, but critics remained unimpressed. Fountain died in hospice care in New Orleans. Beverly Fountain was his widow. He also leaves behind three children, Darah Fountain Harrell and Jeffery Fountain. Del Materne is his sister. He also lost his Porsche, vintage gun collection, and part-time gig at a casino that was damaged by the storm.

Brian Jones

Brian Jones was a New Orleans native. He began his studies in classical music as a child, but soon switched to the blues. His love for the blues and rock 'n' roll music led him to study country, jazz, and other genres. As a high school student, he was an active performer in a local blues club as well as taking odd jobs to provide for his family. His passion for the blues grew when he witnessed a live performance by Chris Barber Band in Cheltenham Town Hall. Jones was accompanied on stage by Alexis Korner as a guitarist. This guitar player played slide guitar and performed an extended blues segment, which he took to heart. Jones also listened to Elmore James records, giving him his first exposure to blues. He hitchhiked at the age of 12


Lainey Wilson

Lainey Wilson was raised in Baskin Louisiana. She grew into country music by listening to Glen Campbell, Buck Owens, Lynyrd Lynyrd, and other country artists. She even went with her grandfather along to bluegrass festivals. These influences have been combined into her latest album, Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’, which was released by Broken Bow Records.

Dr. John

Dr. John is a jazz legend and an icon in New Orleans. Louisiana native Dr.John began his career as a musician on popular records in the 1950's. He appeared on Frankie Ford's and Professor Longhair’s albums. He later played with Sonny and Cher and the Rolling Stones. He developed a persona during this period that would be synonymous with his music, his name and Dr. John the Night Tripper.
