celebrities birthdays

Animated people first appeared in the mid-nineteenth Century, when William George Horner's invention in 1834 of a device called "a zoetrope" was made. The device was based around a drum and allowed for the changing of images. Emile Reynaud invented theatrical projection in 1876 using this principle. He was the first animator to paint on celluloid ribbons and became an entrepreneur.

Sullivan-Bluth Studios

Although Sullivan-Bluth Studios are not as well-known and celebrated as Disney, they have made a significant contribution to the history animation. Don Bluth, who was a Disney animator, founded the company in 1978. He contributed to several classics. He is known for giving animation the human touch. Sullivan-Bluth Studios' animated people are now cherished in homes everywhere.

Sullivan-Bluth Entertainment was originally known as Don Bluth Studios. It is Don Bluth's vision, talent and inspiration that gave birth to Sullivan-Bluth Entertainment. He founded the studio with the late Morris Sullivan, a mergers and acquisitions broker who was an avid enthusiast of traditional animation. Bluth's studio filed bankruptcy in 1985. Morris Sullivan (a financial consultant) stepped in to save the company. In the early 1990s, Bluth and Sullivan collaborated on a feature-length cartoon and a Japanese park attraction.

Hanna-Barbera Productions

Hanna-Barbera produced a series cartoons for children in the 1960s with partners the GAB (Ruby-Spears) Hanna-Barbera also created feature films in addition to the Saturday morning cartoons. Despite its struggles, Hanna-Barbera produced most of the television cartoons in America. Filmation's rivalry with Hanna-Barbera was so great that, in the early 1970s, Fred Silverman gave Hanna-Barbera the Saturday morning cartoon time. Hanna-Barbera began creating all of their cartoons in-house around the end of the 1970s and beginning to make them every day by 1980.

Hanna-Barbera was merged with Warner Bros. Hanna-Barbera went out of business, but animation produced shows and specials. Warner Bros. continues to produce the legacy properties of Hanna-Barbera, such as Scooby-Doo, The Monster Machine, and other shows. Select projects still feature the Hanna-Barbera brand. Although Hanna-Barbera cartoons have been discontinued, the company is still the copyright holder of many of these programs.

Felix, Sullivan’s character

After a series films, Sullivan's Felix character was revived in a comic strip. These animated cartoons were very popular and could have remained popular if Sullivan lived longer. However, Sullivan was plagued by alcoholism and syphilis, and the series was ended in 1931. Joe Oriolo remade the character for television in 1982. Sullivan's estate has never been removed from the Felix cartoons to Messmer.

Messmer and Sullivan collaborated on the cartoons in some ways, but the Felix cartoon wouldn't have been as popular without Sullivan's marketing efforts. But Sullivan gave Felix the name Felix and his personality. Messmer's biographical sketch suggested that the cartoons may have been better if Sullivan had created them. In Japan, Felix is one the most beloved characters.

Studio Sullivan

It is fascinating to read about the creation of Felix the Cat by Sullivan in his studio for animated people. While most animation histories ignore Sullivan’s past, the truth of the matter is that he was a wildcat renegade who didn’t care for the rules or protected intellectual property. Born in Paddington, Sydney, Australia, Sullivan emigrated to the United States in 1910.

Sullivan, who had moved to America in 1914, was hired as an assistant by McClure Syndicate. Marriner was a cartoonist, and Sullivan was a comic strip artist. He also edited Marriner’s comic strips, including Sambo's Funny Noises and McClure. 1914, Sullivan was hired by Raoul Barre, an animation studio. Here he worked for the film adaptations Helen Bannerman’s popular children’s book series Sambo.
