How to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in 1960 established the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The HWOF is located at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. It is composed of 2,711 stars embedded into sidewalks along Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. The HWOF currently has 1,922 listed living people.
You will need to submit your application to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be considered for membership to the HWOF. Once submitted, your name will be sent to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once approved, you receive a certificate of eligibility, which includes your name, date of birth, city of residence, occupation, and category. You will also receive a bronze plaque engraved with your name. This plaque is attached directly to the concrete base, in front of designated stars.
