Modest Mouse
Modest Mouse from Issaquah Washington has been dubbed one of the most influential groups of the 1990s. Their sound combines elements of emo, noise pop, and lo-fi. The band was formed in 1993 and is best known for their self-titled debut album. This album gained them a loyal following within the punk community. They were so successful that there was a bidding war for major labels.

Pavement
A cult following of indie rock was established with the release of Pavement's self-titled debut album in 1992. This noise rock band signed with an independent record label, and their debut album sold more than a million copies. The Fall is an Australian indie rock band that was signed to Rough Trade Records during the mid-1980s. Grotesque, their third album (After the Gramme), came out in November 1980. It was preceded, among others, by "Better Man," which reached the #1 spot on the UK Indie Chart. The album was co-produced by Rough Trade's Geoff Travis and Red Krayola's Mayo Thompson. Smith, despite having problems with Rough Trade's label, continued to release music and eventually found a new project.
The Buzzcocks
The Buzzcocks emerged from a love of punk rock music and the grim, postindustrial Manchester environment. While many punk bands took their cues from them, Buzzcocks weren't interested in faux nihilism or anarchistic invocations. Instead, their nihilism was inspired by the grim surroundings of the '70s. The band's first EP, Spiral Scratch, sold more than 16,000 copies and broke into the singles chart.
The Pixies
The Pixies are an American band of indie musicians that were formed in Boston, Massachusetts 30 years ago. They've released seven studio albums. Their latest one, Head Carrier, is their seventh. Here are some facts and figures about the band.

Oasis
Oasis was established in 1993. They were signed to independent record label Creation Records. Their debut album, Definitely Maybe reached number one in the UK Albums Charts. How To
How to get an honor star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in 1960 established the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The HWOF's Los Angeles location is at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It has 2,711 stars embedded in the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk. Each star represents a person who has contributed to television, radio, theatre, music, motion pictures, or any other aspect of popular culture. The HWOF currently lists 1,922 people.
You will need to submit your application to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be considered for membership to the HWOF. Once submitted, your name will be sent to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Once you are approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility that includes your name, date, residence, occupation, category, and other information. You will also receive a bronze plaque engraved with your name. This plaque is attached to a concrete base located in front of the designated Star.
If a member of the HWOF has nominated you, or if your contributions are significant to films, television, radio or theatre, or any other part of popular culture, you can apply for a Star. A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they do so, they send a message to the applicant's address explaining their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce then sends $25 to the City of Los Angles Department of Cultural Affairs.
The department issues a cheque payable to the Hollywood Chamber of commerce. It then sends the check the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays artists or organizations whose applications were accepted. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce receives half of the fee ($12.50). The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs receives the remaining half.
Once an artist has received their star, he/she is eligible to be listed in the HWOF. You must pay the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce the balance due to be included on the HWOF. The amount due depends upon how many years ago your first nomination was. For example, if you were first nominated in 1990, you would owe $15,000. You'd owe $10,000 if you were previously nominated in 1990.
If you want to remove yourself from the HWOF, you need to contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and pay off the remainder of your debt. They will remove your name from this list.
How old is one to be eligible for a HWOF Star?
Nominations are open to anyone over 18 years of age. To be eligible for a star, you must still be alive. After receiving a star, one may still be nominated again after ten years.
What happens if I die before my star gets put up?
A family member can nominate your name for a star. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will place an honorary marker in front of the star if there are no living relatives.
Why not use a new street, instead of staring at everyone?
The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It is meant as a memorial to all who contributed to the history of film.
What happened to all the stars stolen? The thieves stole approximately 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250-300 lbs, so if you add up all the weight, that comes out to about 4 tons worth of stars!
