Why isn't there more crowdfunding sites such as Indiegogo and Kickstarter for filmmakers?

Crowdfunding sites are great because they allow you to reach out directly to potential investors.

Filmmakers don't feel qualified to ask for funds. They feel they need someone else who can vouch for them.

They don't believe anyone should invest in them, as they have not proven their worth yet.

Instead, they spend long hours working on their project, in hopes of someone noticing.

They realize that they did not prepare well when they launch their campaign.

Instead of receiving thousands upon thousands of dollars, the recipients end up with a handful donations.

Is the Hollywood Walk of Fame still free?

Yes! It is not necessary to pay for admission to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. If you plan to take photos at the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, you'll need a permit. The fee is $15 per person.

Bring a valid ID if your intention is to visit Hollywood Walk of Fame.

If you're under 18, you must be accompanied at all times by someone 21 or older.

The walkway is not open until 10 a.m.

You may not be allowed to leave the walkway until you pay again once you're inside.

Cameras are not permitted inside the walkway.

Can I form my own distribution business?

No. A distributor is required to operate a distribution firm.

You don't have to distribute films from other people, but you must still follow certain rules.

For example, you can't charge different prices to different theaters. And you can't charge different fees to different customers.

Other companies cannot also sell your services.

How much of the box-office revenue is spent on marketing budgets?

Marketing budgets can account for as much as 20% to 40% of a film’s overall budget. This is because marketing is very important to the success of any film.

Marketing is the only way to make sure that your film is known. No one will pay for your film if they don't know about it.

Hollywood's fame?

The answer was obvious. It was because they were willing and able to take risks. They had the courage to make films that people would remember for years to come.

They were also bold enough to try new ideas.

How To

How to get an honor star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

In 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce created the Hollywood Walk of Fame (HWOF). The HWOF's Los Angeles location is at 6233 Hollywood Boulevard. It's made up of 2,711 stars, which are embedded in the sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. Each star represents someone who made motion pictures, television or radio, as well as music and other aspects of popular culture. There are currently 1,922 active individuals on the HWOF.

You will need to submit your application to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce in order to be considered for membership to the HWOF. Once submitted, your name will be sent to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. After being approved, you will be issued a certificate stating your name, date and place of birth. It also includes information about your occupation, occupation and category. You also receive a bronze plaque with your name engraved on it. This plaque is attached directly to the concrete base, in front of designated stars.

You can apply for a star if a current member of the HWOF nominated you or if you made significant contributions to movies, television, radio, theatre, music, or something else considered part of "popular culture." A committee evaluates all nominations and then decides whether to approve them. If they do so, they send a message to the applicant's address explaining their decision. If the person accepts the nomination, he/she receives a second letter confirming acceptance. The Hollywood Chamber of commerce will then pay $25. This money is forwarded to the Department of Cultural Affairs of Los Angeles.

The department issues a check payable the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which then sends the check directly to the Hollywood Walk of Fame Foundation. The foundation pays the artist or organization whose application was accepted. The fee is then paid to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce at $12.50. The City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs takes the other half.

After the artist has been awarded his/her star, they are eligible to join the HWOF. To be listed on the HWOF, you must pay the remaining balance owed to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. The amount due depends upon how many years ago your first nomination was. For example, if you were first nominated in 1990, you would owe $15,000. You would be responsible for $10,000 if you had been nominated previously in 1980.

To remove yourself from HWOF, contact the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. They will help you pay the remaining debt. They will remove your name from this list.

How old must one be to get a HWOF star

You must be at the least 18 year old to be nominated. To receive a coveted star, one must be at least 18 years old. A star can be renominated after 10 years.

What happens if I die before my star gets put up?

Family members may nominate you to be a star. If no relatives are living, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce may place a memorial stone in front of your star.

Why not use a new street, instead of staring at everyone?

The HWOF is not meant to be a historical monument. It's meant to be a tribute to those who have contributed to film history.

What happened with the stars that were stolen? The thieves took approximately 1,200 stars. Each star weighs between 250-300 lbs, so if you add up all the weight, that comes out to about 4 tons worth of stars!
